Quiet is Fun Too!
by Joanna Rawbone
Resources for Educators of Introvert Pupil.
With up to half of any population identifying as an introvert, you will have some in your classroom.
They may be the ones who
- are bright but don’t call the answer out
- prefer working quietly or in a small group
- are noticeably distracted when there is too much noise
- you may have thought of as shy
• don’t appear to be as popular
Traditionally, our education systems have not served introverted children well, a point I made in my TEDx talk. They are often encouraged to be more outgoing but therein lies a problem with far-reaching consequences.
I was invited to write a couple of articles for Inside Government’s Education Hub which you’ll find here.
Over the next few months, we’ll be adding to the resources for teachers and home educators here, including lessons plans for how to make the most of Quiet Is Fun Too.
We welcome your suggestions, so please let us know what you’d find helpful.

Quietly, and supportively yours,
